Unfortunately, that same season, I encountered the first of two injuries that would require extensive elbow surgery. Through nearly two full years of rehabilitation, I fought back and earned my way into a professional baseball contract with the Houston Astros. I played in the Astros and Washington Nationals minor league organizations for parts of three seasons before retiring in the summer of 2006. At that time I returned to the Austin area and began my focus on both real estate and baseball coaching.
